kids bike recall
Recall: major back-pedal on kids bikes

A large range of childrens’ bikes have been recalled because they lack a rear back-pedal brake.

A total of 14 models under the Royal Baby brand have been recalled, all sold online at various websites by Mighty Ape Australia.

All bikes are either 14 or 16 inch models.

The products do not comply with the requirements of the mandatory standard: Trade Practices Act 1974 - Consumer Protection Notice No.6 of 2004 - Consumer Product Safety Standard: Pedal Bicycles: Safety Requirements.

In the absence of a rear back-pedal brake, children may not be able to brake sufficiently using the hand brakes, which may result in an accident and injury to the rider.

Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Mighty Ape Australia by email at orders@mightyape.com.au to arrange for a return and refund.

For more information, consumers can contact Mighty Ape Australia via the website here
