Peaks Challenge Falls Creek

Training Camp

The ultimate training weekend

Join Peaks Challenge training camp from Friday 2 Feb – Sunday 4 Feb for the ultimate pre-event preparation. Staying in Bright, you’ll experience three jam-packed days of riding, training workshops, key-note speakers and specialised recovery with Team Bicycle Network – your Peaks Challenge domestiques.

Sessions are divided into riders aiming to achieve an 11–13 hour finish and riders targeting a sub 10 hour finish. There’s no better opportunity to ride with and learn from the experienced wave leaders who will be setting the pace in March.

As well as on-route training, you’ll join strategy sessions focusing on nutrition, event day planning, ride tactics and recovery. Plus, we’ve developed women specific sessions to support our growing Women’s Community.

Meet the team

Team Bicycle Network rider Alison McCormack

Alison McCormack

Wave Leader: 10 Hour

CEO of Bicycle Network, Alison McCormack will take part in her 12th Peaks Challenge in 2024, and will be supporting and celebrating with those riders that crack sub 10 hours. Alison’s favourite part of the ride is the stunning scenery while rolling down to Anglers Rest. But she warns riders not to underestimate Mt Hotham! Ali has a wealth of knowledge and experience at Peaks Challenge to share with you at the training camp.

Team Bicycle Network rider Steve Lane

Stephen Lane

Wave Leader: 8 Hour

Stephen completed a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and will focus his teachings around nutrition and training throughout the camp. Stephen has been an 8-hour wave leader many times, but 2020’s wet and wild conditions highlighted the importance of being confident in his preparation and fitness to combat the physical and psychological challenge. This event stands as one of his most memorable ‘I’m not giving up’ days and he is ready to share his insights and strategies with you.

Team Bicycle Network rider Kate Penglase

Kate Kellett

Wave Leader: 11 hour

Kate is an elite level endurance mountain bike rider with two Australian Solo 24hr Mountain Bike Championships to her name and bronze and silver medal at the world championships in 2016 and 2018. She is also no stranger to riding long distances on her road bike with 2022 marking her 9th Peaks Challenge. Kate is a strong advocate for women’s cycling with a wealth of knowledge on how to conquer long days in the saddle and she is ready to share her tips at the training camp.

Team Bicycle Network rider Richard Cross

Richard “Crossy” Cross

Wave Leader: 12 Hour

Richard was part of the foundation team at our first ever Training Camp in 2021 and is excited to be back on board again. He has been involved with Team Bicycle Network and has led the 12-hour wave group for 5+ years (plus once in Tasmania for Peaks Challenge Cradle Mountain). Crossy is looking to inspire all the older riders and is proud to be representing the over 60 year old’s. Crossy lives by the motto “If I can do it, so can they”.
