Tasmanian State election 2014 Bicycle Tasmania sent questionnaires to all major party campaign headquarters to seek their statements on cycling policy and initiatives. The questions were aimed at better informing voters of candidate policies and ensure that active transport was on the agenda in the lead-up to the state election.
What was promised for bikes
Bicycle Tasmania’s State Election Campaign aimed to provide safer facilities for cyclists, encourage more Tasmanians to commute by bicycle and ensure that bike use was on the State Election agenda. The social, economic and health benefits associated with bike riding are many and well understood. Providing first-class bike facilities is paramount to promote bike use, and so build healthy and lively communities.
