Ride2Work Day classes on offer for businesses

MEDIA RELEASE

Bicycle Network is urging Tasmanian businesses to take advantage of free Ride2Work sessions being offered in the lead up to Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 18 October.

“Ride2Work Day is a great time for people to stop and think about their travelling habits and whether riding a bike could help with other goals like getting healthier or saving money,” Tasmanian spokesperson Alison Hetherington said.

“Our Back on your Bike program will work with businesses to help staff brush up on riding skills and give them information they need to give riding to work a go, with Ride2Work Day the goal they are working towards.”

Bicycle Network’s free Back on your Bike program is offered throughout Tasmania for people who haven’t ridden for a while, focusing on basic bike maintenance, riding skills and safe places to ride.

Tasmanian business Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) has signed up for a second year, after helping to trial the Ride2Work program in 2022.

“Mona has two workplaces in the northern suburbs positioned along the Intercity Cycleway with their city office a stone's throw from the waterfront shared path, allowing staff easy commuting to and from work, or between offices,” Alison said.

Maddy Dwight, Sustainable Projects Coordinator at Mona said “Mona is proud to be working with Bicycle Network again, after a successful result in the 2022 Tasmanian pilot program.”

“We hosted a Back on your Bike session ahead of the National Ride2Work Day and received great feedback from our staff. We are looking forward to participating again this year.”
