Masterplans for more mountain bike tracks on kunanyi/Mt Wellington and Tolosa Park where approved by Hobart and Glenorchy councils last week.
The Hobart plan is for 37 km of new tracks in the foothills of South Hobart, with the majority being for beginner and intermediate riders. The council does not have funding to build the tracks, but now council has approved the plan it will apply for state and federal grants.
The Glenorchy plan covers the redevelopment of Tolosa Park, including a new BMX track, pump track, dirt jumps, clubrooms, cafe, new parking area, new entry to the park and 30 km of new tracks on its side of Kunanyi/Mt Wellington.

Clarence City Council is asking Meehan Range mountain bike riders whether they agree with plans to develop Grassy Valley into a coaching area.
Specifically, four changes are being proposed:
- A new coaching/practice area for novices to develop basic skills.
- A new green climbing track of five percent grade to provide an alternative - start for the XC loop.
- A modified returning track from the XC loop to the hub.
