Work gets underway next week on the installation of additional security measures in public areas on the north and south banks of the Yarra River.
As activities will be taking place in locations that can be busy with riders, special care and attention will be needed.
The next phase of works involves security measures at Crown Casino and at Flinders Walk, near Banana Alley.
These measures are part of a program of security enhancements being delivered by City of Melbourne in partnership with the Victorian Government and Victoria Police.
The works will be undertaken in stages with the first stage starting at Crown Casino next week and wrapping up in March next year.
Works at Flinders Walk are expected to be completed in January 2021.
Pedestrians and riders will be able to move safely around the area; however, detours may be in place. Riders will have to dismount at times.
The upgrades around Southbank are being developed by security experts and designers to provide a high level of safety, while preserving the character of the area and balancing the needs of all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, businesses, tourists and emergency services.
The works will include installation of stainless steel bollards and a reinforced protective wall.

Bollards and other bespoke security measures have already been installed at Queensbridge Square, Riverside Quay and near Hamer Hall.
