The Northern Territory Government is investigating ways bike riding can be improved on Bagot Road in Darwin, with a survey currently open for people who ride in the area.
Bagot Road currently includes an off-road shared path on the outbound side of the road. However, the path varies in width and pavement quality and crosses multiple accesses and driveways.
The project will identify potential upgrades to Bagot Road for people who ride and ncept design options will be informed by survey responses and feedback on experiences riding along Bagot Road.
Bagot Road is a strategic cycling route between the northern suburbs and the Stuart Highway, also linking to Casuarina and the university. It is on Bicycle Network's list of priority roads in Darwin and should have a full off-road bike path.
The Bagot Road survey asks people to describe their experiences either cycling, walking or driving, including any near misses. There are also opportunities to list specific concerns and preferences for improvements.
The survey is open until 18 December 2020. Once concept designs are drawn up they will be presented to key stakeholders and the community for further feedback and input before a final report is made.
