235km | 4000m+ Climbing | 13 hours
The route
Equivalent to a mountain stage of the Tour de France, Peaks Challenge is a 235km ride with 4000+ metres of climbing and a 13-hour deadline.
Set across three of the Victorian high country’s most famous climbs, you’ll tackle the ascents of Tawonga Gap, Mount Hotham and finally, ‘The Beast’ that is the back of Falls Creek.
Mindset is key to conquering Peaks, while Tawonga Gap will have you saying “Allez, Allez” and Hotham will change your mantra to “Shut up legs”, the back of Falls will hit you like a tonne of bricks. With 200km in your legs, you’ll quickly learn why the first pinch is notorious among past Peaks riders. It’s a steep and relentless climb with little reprieve and is synonymous with the coaching words ‘Bang, bang, bang’ from Team Bicycle Network co-captain, Lee Turner.

Start trainingFinishers Jersey
It’s more than just a jersey.
Everyone who tackles Peaks Challenge has the opportunity to stake their claim on a finishers jersey or sub 10-hour jersey…
We know how much it means to you. It symbolises months of training, time away from family and friends, dedication, pain and commitment. It’s every early-morning wake up, grinding pedal stroke, bead of sweat and sleepless night. It tells the world how deep you’re willing to dig and how determined you are to come out triumphant.
Our 2024 finishers jersey is inspired by Falls Creek and the contours of the surrounding alpine landscape. You have 13 hours to cross the finish line and earn one for yourself.
Save Ride2School – Keep our kids rolling
This year, for the first time, we are asking Peaks riders to help raise money for our Ride2School program.
Back in the 1970s eight out of 10 kids rode to school, now just two out of 10 actively travel to school and we want this to change. Our 17-year-old program has helped to get tens of thousands of children active on their journey to school, but there is still work to be done.
For 2024, we have created a premium-quality kit in men’s and women’s sizes, produced exclusively for Peaks Challenge fundraisers.
The exclusive pro-kit by Tinelli will be offered to Peaks Legends who raise funds* to help us empower the next generation to Ride2School. The more you raise the more you will be rewarded. All funds will go directly to the Ride2School program.
Raise $175 – pro jersey
Raise $400 plus – pro knicks
Raise $650 plus – pro long sleeve jersey
Raise $1000 plus – pro winter vest and arm warmers
Raise $1500 plus – splash jacket and leg warmers
Raise $5000 plus – named donor on sponsor board and our website
*Pro-kit is available for all funds raised until Sunday 10 March 2024.
Just $50 could pay for bike education for one child. $5000 could pay for a complete Ride2School program for one school.
