Help set Surf Coast Shire's bike plan

A new bike plan is being developed by the Surf Coast Shire and people who ride in the area are can give their thoughts on what it should prioritise.

The Safer Cycling Strategy and Action Plan will review the road network and existing bike infrastructure, identify missing links and poor connections and highlight key riding routes.

It is part of the council's plan to make it easier for more people to ride and reduce bicycle crash risks.

If you live or regularly visit the Surf Coast area you can complete a survey which will help the council write their plan.

The survey includes questions about why and how often you ride in the area, if you would like to ride more regularly and what improvements you believe should be made.

You can also highlight roads, trails and specific areas that could be improved. Special maps have been developed that allow you to pinpoint the road you ride on the most, any missing links and risk spots.

People who walk and drive in the Surf Coast area are also welcome to complete the survey.

As well as the survey, an online community information is session is also planned for June.

Following this, a draft Safer Cycling Strategy document will be available for comment. The council then hopes to endorse the final plan in October.

The survey is now open and closes on Sunday 9 May 2021. Click here to read more about the Surf Coast Shire's Safer Cycling Strategy and Action Plan.
