Take care on Yarra Trail

Bike riders will be asked to be cautious on a short section of the Main Yarra Trail in Abbotsford during the next couple of weeks as a collapsed retaining wall is reconstructed.

Traffic restrictions will be in place between Alma Wharf and the Walmer Street bridge, a section of about 200 metres.

There will be no need for detouring or dismounting, however signage will be in place asking riders to take care. Stop/go directions may be given when vehicles are being used on the trail.

The project is scheduled to start on Wednesday 23 June and finish by Wednesday 14 July, but should wrap up earlier. Some buffer has been given in case wet weather slows progress. Work will be done from 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Reconstructing the retaining wall will make sure the trail is not damaged and will stop more substantial work from needing to be done in the future. Damage to the wall occurred earlier this year and was not caused by the storms that ravaged the Dandenongs.
