Bicycle Network has announced that the 2021 Great Vic Bike Ride, scheduled to run 27 November to 5 December, will be transformed into a four day event from 31 March to 3 April 2022 – rebranded the Little Vic.
Rebecca Lane, Bicycle Network’s General Manager of Events, said: “We have done everything in our power to try and run a Great Vic this year but a 9-day riding and camping event is not possible in the current COVID-19 climate”.
“We’ve worked hard to put together a ride which delivers on many of the best parts of the Great Vic. Importantly, the Little Vic will also provide a significant boost to our many volunteers, suppliers and gracious hosts in the Grampians region."
The 235-kilometre Little Vic has an exceptional mix of scenery, charming host towns, wildlife and the awe-inspiring Grampians National Park.
Tickets are now available via greatvic.com.au.
The event will be capped at 3,000 riders, and a COVIDSafe Event Plan, made in consultation with relevant industry experts and authorities, is designed to strictly adhere to the Victorian Government’s Public Events Framework.
This event will help support the ongoing economic recovery of small communities across the Grampians region and it is great to know that participants will have a high propensity to revisit the destinations they travel through on their journey, effectively creating up to 3000 ambassadors for western Victoria.
Current ticket holders for the Great Vic Bike Ride 2021 can transfer their ticket to the Little Vic, carry over to the next Great Vic in November 2022 or request a refund.
“We’d like to thank all the communities who’ve supported us over the past 18-months including Northern Grampians Shire, Horsham Rural City, Ararat Rural City Council, Southern Grampians Shire, Hindmarsh Shire Council, Yarriambiack Shire Council and Grampians Tourism,” Ms Lane added.
Seppelt Wines will assist with post-ride celebrations at Great Western.
