A draft of the National Obesity Prevention Strategy is now available for public consultation.
The Strategy has been prepared by a national obesity strategy Working Group, and will enable a more collaborative and comprehensive approach across all levels of government to addressing obesity. Without appropriate action, over 18 million Australians are projected to be either overweight or obese by 2030.
The strategy provides a chance for bike lovers to advocate for infrastructure, programs, and policies that promote active travel, an easy and enjoyable activity for increasing physical health.
Bicycle Network has provided feedback on the draft and will be engaging with the Working Group where possible.
Submissions to the National Obesity Prevention Strategy closes on 3 November 2021.
