Bicycle Network is excited to announce the lead car at Peaks Challenge Falls Creek 2022 will be the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, thanks to our event partnership with Porsche Cars Australia.
Peaks Challenge Falls Creek is a notoriously difficult bike ride. 235 kilometres, three mountains and over 4000m of elevation within a 13-hour time limit. But considering the speed the lead riders can reach flying down Hotham... it's no Sunday cruise for the lead car either!
That's why we've brought in the big guns this year. Not only is the Porsche Taycan perfectly capable of navigating the course, it is also Porsche's first all-electric sports car – so now there will be nothing but fresh mountain air between the riders and the finish line.
This is our first lead car partnership for Peaks Challenge and a big win for the event; as a lead car is compulsory, so having something all-electric (not to mention super stylish) is the perfect fit for Peaks.
"Fuelled by adventure", Porsche's Performance Battery Plus provides the Taycan with the range it needs to lead the riders up and down the famous three Peaks and beyond – with effortless acceleration and all-wheel drive capability sure to be the envy of many riders up the back of Falls.
And the German manufacturer is no stranger to bikes, with Porsche engineers recently focusing their world-renowned abilities toward designing e-bikes and rear bicycle carriers, currently only available in the European market.
So while there won't be any Porsche bicycles flying around the course on Sunday 13 March this year – there will be one Porsche out there, and we can guarantee it will be starting and finishing first.
If you're heading to Peaks Challenge Falls Creek 2022 to ride or spectate, keep an eye out for our latest event partner, it's hard to miss!
