Have your say on Yarra’s transport strategy

Yarra City Council has released a draft of their 2022 Transport Strategy and are looking for public feedback.

The new strategy, Moving Forward, will set out the key actions the council will take to achieve the following four outcomes:

  1. Increased use of space efficient and environmentally sustainable forms of transport in Yarra
  2. Enhanced places for people on Yarra's streets
  3. Increased independent mobility for vulnerable road users in Yarra
  4. Reduced car use for trips within or through Yarra

A particularly tantalizing section of the strategy draft that may appeal to bike riders is the New Deal For Cycling, a policy package that sets out the building of fit-for-purpose infrastructure across Yarra, as well as safer vehicle parking to better protect riders.

Bicycle Network encourages bike riders in the area to make sure your voice is heard.

The transport strategy provides a chance for people of the community to make the call for better infrastructure, programs, and policies that will steer bike riding in the best possible direction.

Bicycle Network has provided feedback on the draft and will be engaging with Yarra City Council where possible.

Public feedback is being accepted until Monday 11th April, 2022. You can make a submission to info@yarracity.vic.gov.au, or fill out the online survey here.
