The City of Darebin have started community consultations on their 2022 Transport Strategy Refresh and a proposed Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy.
The Darebin Transport Strategy was last updated in 2015 and, given the many changes to local and state policies and people’s travel behaviours, will undergo refinements that reflect the current transport landscape.
Some of the new actions that will appear in the Strategy Refresh include improving community safety and freight management, amending parking management action, and an action item that considers sustainable transport and new developments.
The Strategy Refresh also lists a new electric vehicle policy as a key action. The EV policy will provide certainty for developers on planning requirements for electric vehicle charging in new developments.
It will also help the council promote convenient charging options for all residents and visitors and expand Darebin's existing network of electric vehicle charging stations.
The online surveys for both the Transport Strategy and EV policy can be accessed via the Council's Your Say page here.
Consultation closes on Sunday 1 May. There is also a drop-in session at Northcote Library on Thursday 28 April between 5.30-7.30pm.
