Due to an ongoing sewer project, bikes flowing along the trail on the Maribyrnong River in Aberfeldie will be accompanied by the flows in a sewer by-pass pipeline.
Work has begun to construct the 450mm above-ground pipeline.
The pipe will carry sewerage while the main sewer underground is relined.
Pumps, generators and above- and below-ground pipelines will be installed and operated during the works.
The bypass will operate from April to June.
The trail though Riverside Park will remain open during all works.
The pipeline will cross the SUP at one location and a ramp which is designed to be compliant for wheelchair, bicycle and pram access, will be installed to ensure ongoing access.
