Active travel along Pittwater Road, Ryde, just got easier with a new shared user path between Victoria and Epping Road.
The 5 kilometre path, funded by City of Ryde and the NSW Government, offers walkers and riders a thoroughfare between the suburbs of Gladesville and North Ryde.
The works included:
- Widening of the existing path to 2.5 metres
- Line marking and signage
- Replacement of some existing trees with local indigenous species
The Pittwater Road cycleway has been an ongoing project in Ryde for several years, aided by design advice and general advocacy from Bike North and the local community.
The project received a funding boost in 2020 from the NSW Government’s Walking and Cycling Program.
The installation of the Pittwater Road cycleway now provides riders with a connection to the Tarban Creek cycleway.
“The Pittwater Shared User Path will improve mobility and transport connections for our community,” City of Ryde Mayor Clr Jordan Lane said, “it also expands our burgeoning bicycle network and at the same time encourages people to stay active and healthy.”
