Capital City Trail disruptions

There will be some brief disruption for riders on the Capital City Trail in Fitzroy North over the next two weeks.

Yarra Trams is replacing the cabling above and below ground along sections of Nicholson Street, including right where bike traverse the street at the bike crossing.

At times riders may have to stop approaching the crossing and may be required to walk their bikes across Nicholson Street.

There may be debris on the trail and road, and machinery operating close by.

The good news is that most of the construction activities will be in the evening and at night.

The early works are from 9pm to 6am, Sunday 22 May to Thursday 26 May 2022 while the main works are from 3pm, Sunday 5 June to 5am, Monday 6 June 2022.

There will also be close out night works from 9pm to 6am, Tuesday 7 June to Friday 17 June 2022.

There will also be some disruption one block north on Nicholson Street between Brunswick Road/Holden Street and Barkly Street, East Brunswick where re-cabling is also taking place.

At this location for early and close out work there will be traffic lane and on-street parking closures at times, with localised detours near the worksite.

For the main works Nicholson Street will be closed between Brunswick Road/Holden Street and Barkly Street

Traffic management and signage will direct traffic, please follow signage around works.

There will be temporary footpath and bike lane closures around the works with local detours in place.

There will be service changes to tram route 96 during the main work.
