Riders should note there will be a road closure at the corner of Spring Street and Little Bourke Streets tomorrow (6 July).
Contractors for the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop will set up a crane on the northbound lane of Spring Street at Little Bourke Street for removal and installation of equipment associated with Parliament Station
Spring Street will be closed between Little Bourke Street and Lonsdale Street on Wednesday 6 July between 7 am and 6 pm.
If weather conditions do not allow for works to be completed on 6 July, Spring St will be closed on either 7 or 8 July as contingency dates.
The Victorian Government is delivering major upgrades to the City Loop to improve the management of emergency situations at Parliament, Melbourne Central and Flagstaff stations.
The works will involve the installation of modern smoke detection, extraction, and sprinkler systems at the three stations.
The detour will be up Nicholson Street and Victoria Parade as there is a ban on left turns from Nicholson Street into Lonsdale Street.
The site compound will be used until late July 2023 to provide essential amenities for construction workers, project engineers and support staff.
Crane works will be required on this section of Spring Street intermittently from early July 2022 to July 2023.
