Ocean Grove District Ride Centre plans revealed

The City of Greater Geelong is inviting feedback on plans for a District Ride Centre in Kingston Park, Ocean Grove.

After the removal of jumps within Woodlands Reserve in 2020, the city has determined the most suitable alternative location as Kingston Park due to its existing amenities and central location. A concept plan has been developed for the proposed 7520 m2 bike park, which includes features for all rider levels and the potential to accommodate up to 100 riders.

Key features include:

• six 80–100 m long dirt jump lines for beginner, intermediate and expert skill levels
• an asphalt pump track for beginner and intermediate riders to encourage progression
• a skills and trials area consisting of features to improve rider control, stability, and confidence
• a central hub with shelter and seating.

Greater Geelong Mayor Peter Murrihy said the planned bike park would be hugely beneficial to the Bellarine Peninsula community.

“We all understand the many benefits of cycling to community members of all ages," he said.

"A facility of this nature has the potential to be of enormous value to Ocean Grove residents, along with being another attraction to visitors to the region.”

Deputy Mayor Trent Sullivan encouraged bike riders within the Geelong community to submit feedback on the design to assist with the development of the project.

“A riding centre with the potential for such variety can be an enormous asset to the Ocean Grove community,” he said.

“There are numerous features proposed and I strongly encourage riders of all ages and ability levels to consider sharing their thoughts on the proposed concept.”

You can review the District Ride Centre draft concept plan and provide feedback here by 5 pm Friday 26 August.
