Major construction starts soon on the Hurstbridge Line Duplication project in Melbourne’s north east and as a consequence some bike routes will be impacted by works that are building the railway and a new bike trail.
Para Road, Greensborough will be closed on the station side between Grimshaw Street and Flintoff Street from 21 September until late October 2022.
The Plenty River Trail, Greensborough will be closed under the bridge, near Paterson Crescent to Bicton Street from Tuesday 6 September to Tuesday 20 September
The Greensborough Station overpass will be closed from 9pm Tuesday 6 September to 4am Tuesday 20 September.
The pedestrian crossing at Montmorency closed from 9am Wednesday 7 September to 4am Tuesday 20 September while the crossing at Diamond Creek Station will be closed from 9.30am to 9.30pm Thursday 15 September.
There is good news with the start in construction of the first stage of the new bike trail between Greensborough and Montmorency to provide safe and easy access between the 2 stations, linking with the Plenty River Trail and station forecourts.
It will connect with the Plenty River Trail near Paterson Crescent in Greensborough, with a signalised pedestrian crossing ensuring pedestrians and cyclists can cross Para Road at this location safely.
Construction will begin in late 2022 with completion expected in mid 2023.
Planning of Stage 2 of the path between Montmorency and Eltham is pending.
From 8.30pm Tuesday 6 September to last service Monday 19 September, buses will replace trains on sections of the Hurstbridge Line between Macleod and Hurstbridge.
During this time, crews will work around the clock from Watsonia to Wattle Glen, where they will:
build the new Greensborough Station structure on top of the concourse install the new Plenty River Bridge build the first platform for the new Montmorency Station, and extend Platform 2 at Diamond Creek Station.
