Bendigo Community Forum: moving beyond petrol

People of Bendigo and surrounding regions are invited to attend an exciting transport forum next week that will tackle how we can move towards more sustainable transport.

The forum is being organised by Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration and will examine the ways in which Bendigo can move beyond petrol, with a focus on expediting the transition to electric vehicles, moving towards sustainable public transport, and how to get more people using active travel options such as walking and riding bikes.

The Forum will take place from 7-9pm at the Bendigo Regional Tennis Centre, Nolan Street on Tuesday 13 September.

Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration works closely with businesses and the  community to develop projects that will put the region on track to achieve zero emissions by 2030.

“At the forum, we want to hear from people in our community about what they think needs to change to bring about a zero-emissions transport system that is good for business, good for our health and for our environment,” said Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration Coordinator Ian McBurney.

A strategy that will direct Greater Bendigo’s path to zero emissions will be prepared as part of the Greater Bendigo Climate Summit next year. This forum is a wonderful opportunity to stimulate interest, highlight challenges, highlight innovations and embrace the change. Future forums will examine how Bendigo could reduce emissions from buildings and food systems, restore nature and grow the circular economy to reduce waste.

The forum is free and open to all.  Please register to attend below.
