Council proposes Mullumbimby-Brunswick Heads cycleway

Byron Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposed bike path between Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads.

Council’s vision for the cycleway is to provide a safe and accessible active transport link for locals that will connects them with schools, workplaces and businesses.

There is also the opportunity for visitors to enjoy a day of riding by travelling to Mullumbimby by train and riding the route to Brunswick Heads.

There are two routes on the table: (i) a ‘north route’ that would run along the rail corridor from Mullumbimby and connect with Ocean Shores before crossing the Brunswick River; or (ii) a ‘south route’ that would run parallel with Mullumbimby Road and connecting with Tweed Street into Brunswick Heads.

The north and south routes are roughly 8-10 kilometres in length.

The community are invited to give feedback on the proposal by taking an online survey here.

Consultation closes Friday 7 October. A report will be presented to Council in November that will outline how the project will move forward.
