Riders on the trail along the lower Moonee Ponds Creek face a week-long closure and detour.
Starting Friday 18 November, the trail will close 7am-5pm between Dynon Road and Footscray Road for work on a bridge as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project.
Riders and pedestrians will be detoured through North and West Melbourne until Monday 21 November.
There is a wet weather contingency for the following day, Tuesday 22 November.
Riders city-bound on the trail should turn off at Arden Street then follow the signs to Laurens/Queensberry/Munster Terrace/Adderley/La Trobe Street.
Commuters to Docklands should use La Trobe Street to connect to the West Melbourne-North Melbourne detour.
Dynon Road and Lloyd Street will be open for riders on the Creek connecting to Footscray.
Footscray Road Trail remains open
The trail is required to be closed because crane lifts for the bridge construction sweep over the route of the trail.
The new, dedicated bridge will improve connections to the West and provide a direct link to Dynon Road, Flinders Street and the new Wurundjeri Way Extension.
