Ride2Work Day brekkie back on the waterfront

This year’s Ride2Work Day breakfast in Hobart is back in its usual location at Mawson Place and we’ve got a few new features to get you riding that morning.

As usual we’ll have a light breakfast of muffins and croissants, and we heard the complaints last year so will have a small selection of gluten-free twists.

Australian Bananas are back on board as a sponsor so there will be a banana for everyone, as well as providing more supplies for the pedal-your-own smoothies.

We’ve got the Bike Van on site to do routine check-ups, so if you want to some advice on whether you need new brake pads or whether you’re using enough oil on your chain, head towards Matt.

With all the interest in e-bikes, our volunteer ride leaders will be running their Try an Electric Bicycle session.

If you’ve never ridden an e-bike before, this is a great chance to see what all the fuss is about. You can head out with one of them on an e-bike for a short circuit that takes in a hill or two so you can really see where the e-bike comes into its own.

If you are already a workplace coordinator for Ride2Work Day or just an active rider in your workplace, then please come along and have a chat to our Back on your Bike program coordinator, Sallie.

We’re looking for riding champions to convince their employers of the worth of getting more people riding to work. Back on your Bike is offering to help people who want to ride but need a skills refresher and advice on the sort of bike and gear that makes it easier.

This year we’ve been piloting the Ride2Work program out at MONA and so are now ready to head into other workplaces.

A big thank you goes to our main sponsor – the City of Hobart – for providing the coffees and food for our breakfast, without their support the breakfast couldn’t go ahead!

And this year, Rotary Hobart has come on board as a sponsor to help us provide better publicity for the event so another big thanks goes to them.

If you haven’t registered your intention to ride yet, there’s still time so you can go into the running for gift vouchers from Bike Chain: www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/rides-and-events/ride2work/ride2work-day/

Launceston

Our friends from the Tamar Bicycle Users Group are doing their coffee and snack in Civic Square for this year’s Ride2Work Day, thanks to sponsorship from City of Launceston.

Just turn up at Civic Square between 7.30 and 9 am to meet fellow riders and enjoy your free treat.
