Ballarat’s network of family-friendly bike paths will be signposted and connected with local attractions as part of a new bike tourism initiative.
Ride Ballarat is a series of bike routes that takes budding bike riders on immersive trips through the regional city.
The four routes that form Ride Ballarat are:
- The City Ride
- The Lake Ride
- The Victoria Park Loop Ride
- The Arch of Victory Ride
Bike route wayfinding signage will be installed on bike lanes and bike paths to help riders navigate their way around the city’s key sights.
A new trail head will be created opposite Ballarat Railway Station and will take users around Lake Wendouree and back into town via Sturt Street.
Neuron Mobility will also provide a fleet of 12 e-bikes in Ballarat for the summer period.
Riders will be able to book and use the e-bikes through Neuron’s user-friendly app. Standard trips will cost $1 to unlock the e-bikes and 45 cents per minute thereafter.
The vision for Ride Ballarat is to decrease people’s dependence on private vehicles and increase the uptake of active travel, whilst enhancing the city’s liveability.
“As people move through our city by bicycle, our city’s unique history and the many stories that can be told will become a cornerstone to the experience,” City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said.
You can learn more about the riding routes, and the key attractions along these routes, via the Visit Ballarat website.
