Looking for some inspiration to get out and about on your bike? There are plenty of fun things happening around Victoria as we move into the cool and comfortable autumn months. Check out some of the highlights below.
E-bike Expo in the Macedon Ranges: Saturday 1 April
If you’re looking to dip your toes in the world of e-bikes but don’t know how to get started, a spin around Woodend to the northeast of Melbourne might be just what you need. The E-bike Expo runs from 10am until 1pm on Saturday 1 April at Woodend Neighborhood House and will include test rides, workshops and industry experts to show you the ropes.
Outer Wombat Gravel Grind: Saturday April 15
Race or ride at a more leisurely pace through the Wombat State Forest as part of the Outer Wombat Gravel Grind in mid-April. The 74km course offers more than 1100m of climbing and includes fire trails, gentle gravel and fast-rolling flats. The timed event features a podium finish, which offers plenty of motivation for competitors. Those simply looking to complete the course are encouraged to join in and enjoy the day.
Beechworth Granite Classic: April 28, 29 and 30
The Beechworth Granite Classic is approaching and offers riders an exploration of scenic gravel roads, private farm lanes, fire roads and forest tracks. Options are available for all levels of experience and enthusiasm, all starting and finishing at the Beechworth Historic Precinct:
- 15km / 220m vert / 11am
- 45 km / 690m vert / 9:30am
- 90km / 1100m vert / 8:30am
- 115km / 1400m vert / 7:30am
Lucky Loops multicultural bike workshop: Sunday 30 April
Staff at Edmund Rice Community and Refugee Services in Truganina have taught hundreds of students from diverse backgrounds to ride bikes and, in late April, they will channel this experience into a dedicated event with multiculturalism front of mind. The event will feature inclusive rides for folks of varying experience levels, food, music and performances.
