Maribyrnong River Trail detours

Improvement works are underway on the Maribyrnong River Trail near Highpoint West and bike riders will be detoured to the trail on the other side of the river.

The City of Maribyrnong project will see sections of the trail widened and tree planting along the river corridor.

The works are now underway between Burton Crescent Reserve and Burndap Park. The northern section (near Burton Crescent Reserve) will be completed first, followed by the southern section (near Burndap Park).

Contractors will be onsite between 7am-4pm on weekdays.

In stage one, trail users will be detoured along Raleigh Road and the River’s edge in Fairbairn Park, crossing back to Maribyrnong at the Pipemakers Park Footbridge.

Upgrades to the shared user path between Jacks Magazine and the Frog Hollow Wetland will be completed between April and early May.

The Burndap Park works will be conducted from May to June, starting with the works at Jack's Magazine, followed by works at Burndap Park.

Users will be detoured along the Maribyrnong River Trail in Burndap Park, or along the eastern side of the pond at Jacks Magazine and along Edgewater Boulevard.

The second stage of works on the trail along the river’s edge in Burndap Park between Frog’s Hollow Wetland and Bomdonwell Island, will be conducted between late May and the end of June.

During this time users will be detoured along the shared user path around Edgewater Lake.

Signage will be in place to support safe pedestrian and cyclist travel.

These detours may cause delays, and pedestrians and riders are advised to plan ahead.
