Commuters living in the Bulleen and Balwyn North areas will now be able to use the new Parkiteer secure bike parking at Bulleen Park & Ride.
The demand for secure bike parking has extended beyond railway stations, and the Bulleen Parkiteer facility located at the corner of Thompsons Road and Kampman Street is one of two new Parkiteers in Victoria not located at a railway station. The other is Doncaster Park & Ride, located along the Koonung Creek Trail.
The Bulleen Parkiteer offers 26 bike parking spaces – 12 ground parking spaces and 14 hanging parking rails.
It also has internal and external CCTV cameras for greater security, a 5000 square metre green roof community park, walking and cycling paths that connect to Koonung Creek Trail and toilets and myki services.
Bulleen Park & Ride is part of the Eastern Express Busway, a subsidiary of the North East Link Program. This first dedicated busway in Melbourne is planned to be completed in 2028.
More Parkiteers to come
Four new Parkiteers have opened this year, located in Yarraman, Merlynston and Lara. More are planned in Glen Huntly, Surrey Hills, Montmorency and Deer Park in 2023-24 as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project, Car Parks for Commuters Program and various station upgrades.
Parkiteer is free. Visit parkiteer.com.au to register and find your nearest Parkiteer bike parking facility.
