We are all set for Ride2Work Day next Wednesday 10 November, are you?
If you have thought about riding to work but need a nudge, how about these incentives?
Ride2Work Day free coffees!
In Hobart we are holding a breakfast at the front of Brooke Street Pier to congratulate all the regular new commuters between 7.30 am and 9 am.
There will be free coffee, croissants and muffins, and pedal your own smoothies. All we ask of you is to show up on your bike, check in, sanitise and keep your distance from other groups.
Come along and meet other riders or encourage people from your workplace to ride and meet up at the breakfast.
In Launceston the Tamar Bicycle Users Group are putting on free coffees and biscuits at the LINC Library in Civic Square between 7.30 and 9 am.
Commuter Challenge
In Hobart we think the ferry trial is a great reason to try riding to work. It’s easy to get to via the Foreshore Trail and is a quick and stress-free way to get over the river. If you haven’t tried it you should, and if you have tried it let your colleagues at work know how easy it makes riding to work.
We put together some maps and videos to help people find a good route for them: https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/tips-resources/maps-and-rides/riding-to-the-ferry/
On Ride2Work Day we are running a commuter challenge from Kangaroo Bay to the breakfast.
There will be a bicycle rider who takes the ferry, and e-bike rider who takes the road and bridge, a motorbike rider, car driver and bus passenger. The car driver and motorbike and bicycle riders all have to find a park as they normally would if heading to work and come to the breakfast and log their time.
MAAP Clean Living Challenge
Bicycle gear maker MAAP has pledged to offer $75 discounts off purchases of $250 or more for anyone who logs 120 minutes of riding instead of car driving between 2 and 15 November – just in time for Ride2Work Day!
To log your commute head to https://www.strava.com/challenges/MAAP-Clean-Livin-Challenge and to see MAAP’s super cool threads: https://maap.cc/
And an added benefit for us is that we get $1 for every commute logged to help us to keep advocating for more places for people to ride.
